h2o.TITANIUM at London Zoo

Project brief:

A New exhibit to house the Galapagos Tortoises was built at London Zoo. Due to the specific needs of the animals, water is required to be kept at a temperature between 20-25 degrees Celsius which exponentially increases the opportunity for bacterial proliferation in the storage tank.

PureHydro were consulted to provide a low maintenance water treatment solution to mitigate this risk. Therefore we proposed the use of an h2o.TITANIUM Photo-Catalytic reactor to destroy contaminants in the water and assist in the safe storage of warm water

System:

A tank will be topped up with mains water and circulated through a heat pump to be kept at 25 degrees. It will be periodically used to top up and fill the tortoise ponds in the exhibit

Solution:

PureHydro installed an h2o.TITANIUM AOP5 with a dedicated pump on a recirculation loop so that all system water was being recirculated through the unit and back into the tank. This allowed for the maximum exposure of the water to treatment

Results:

Subsequent testing of the system has delivered perfect results, with the water in the tank and the outlet showing a 0 count for Legionella species
